ABOUT ME:

I am Professor Emeritus of Mathematica and Statistics at the University of Massachusetts, from which I retired in 2011 after having taught there since 1965. My research interests were in the topology of dynamical systems and shifted to cognitive and pedagogical issues of using computer programming to teach mathematics.

In addition to authoring three undergraduate textbooks (axiomatic set theory, topology, and an introduction to mathematical proof), I have published articles on topological dynamics, topology, the APL programming language and its offshoot the J programming language, and Mathematica.

My non-professionsl passion is close-up, parlor, and stage magic.
