Find the value of $\operatorname{lim}_{x\rightarrow3}(x+5)$ in W|A?

Posted 7 years ago

Hi All, I was trying to find the value of $\operatorname{lim}_{x\rightarrow3}(x+5)$ using wolframalpha api but I am not getting the result. Actually it is limit of x tending to 3 for the expression x+5.

The api call which I am making is http://api.wolframalpha.com/v2/query?

input=%5Coperatorname%7Blim%7D_%7Bx%5Crightarrow3%7D%28x%2B5%29&appid=***********************&format=image

I will appreciate if someone can help me in fixing this issue.

With the wording of your original question I did not understand all the constraints that you have on any possible solution.

I suggest you look at all the Latex syntax, determine those terms which appear to not be interpreted by WolframAlpha, write a very very polite letter to support clearly and simply describing these unexpected behaviors and describe how useful it would be if these could be interpreted by WolframAlpha, mail the letter and perhaps some day this might change.

Thanks Bill for the response.Actually I am taking the image as an input which can be in any mathematical entity.I am using OCR and ML to get the text in latex form.I need to use that latex text to get the final result.How can I do that since wolframalpha is not giving solution for all latex forms.

This seemed to work for me

https://api.wolframalpha.com/v2/query?appid=*****************&input=limit%20x%2B5%2C%20x-%3E3

where the input without the escape coding is

limit x+5, x->3
