Avoid issues with GPU switching on Mac?

Hi all-

I'm having some issues with Mathematica forcing use of the discrete GPU in my MacBook Pro. When I'm at my desk this is fine, but it really bleeds power when running on battery. Is this a known issue with Mathematica, or is there a workaround? Currently I'm using gfxCardStatus to force integrated GPU only, but I'm hoping for a more automatic method.
