How to get temporary files deleted when the kernel quits?

Hello, I have been looking into Mathematica’s memory and storage management recently. In particular, I looked into the creation of temporary files. I saw that Mathematica did not delete the temporary files after quitting the kernel . Is there a (simple) way to get Mathematica to do this? In this post,

no simple solutions are suggested. Also, if you could suggest some references to better understand Mathematica’s memory and storage management, I would be very grateful.
