Cournot-problem in Wolfram|Alpha?

Posted 10 years ago

Hey,

my question relates to the topic of microeconomics, and especially on the Cournot model with two companies in competition. Is there a possibility using Wolfram Alpha to solve the Cournot-problem with its reactions and profitfunktions fast and easy ?

If so, what inputs are needed to achieve this?

Thank you for your help

Mfg.

Hi

I modified Uwaza´s code ( http://www.otaru-uc.ac.jp/~uzawa/cal-economics/cournot-e3.pdf ) to work in the Mathematica 9. You can find it attached. I found this quite handy especially when visualizing equilibria with differing marginal costs.

I don't believe there's anything built in specifically for that. I at least didn't see it when I looked.

You will want instead to model this using the Wolfram Language in Mathematica.
