How can I turn off or speed up the "Interactive Image Assistant"?

Posted 10 years ago

Hello,

In Mathematica 9 and 10, when you click on an image (which you pasted into a notebook), a couple of buttons appear below it, offering cropping and other tools. On my laptop (i7 low power core, 10GB RAM, 256 GB SSD drive, NVidia GForce GT 620M) In Mathematica 10 it takes about 1 minute to show these buttons (for a 14MP image). During that time the session freezes. Sometimes Mathematica crashes completely.

I do not rely to much on these buttons, but sometimes I accidentally click on an image or just want to grep some coordinate values. Then the freezing is extremely annoying.

How do I turn these buttons off?

Thanks in advance for your help! Johannes

I spent 20 minutes trying to find this for you and came up empty handed. Well done!

Just found the necessary setting in the advanced options dialog:

Formatting Options -> Expression Formatting -> Graphics Box Options -> RasterBoxOptions -> ImageEditMode = False
