Syntax for converting from volume to mass using specific gravity (density)?

Posted 10 years ago

Hi, I am trying to figure out the correct simple syntax for converting from a volume to mass using specific gravity.

For example, 1 L to lbs, with a s.g. of 2.41, or 1 gallon to kg with a s.g. of 1.5, etc.

Thanks in advance for help!

Why not just multiply the conversion for water by the specific gravity?

http://www.wolframalpha.com/input/?i=2.41+liter+in+pounds

http://www.wolframalpha.com/input/?i=1.5+gallon+in+kg

Wolfram alpha assumes that you are using water (with a sg of 1) as the default so multiplication by the sg returns the correct result.
