Mac OS X Power using ˆ

Posted 10 years ago

Hello,

I am using Mathematica Online using Yosemite operating system (Safari or Chrome) and when I try to use the carat symbol (ˆ) instead of the Power function it is not recognized, as you can see in the image.

Does someone have a suggestion on how to fix this behavior?

Thank you,

Johnny

It might be an issue of the browser regarding the shift-6 as a command.

I tried the same thing and the Power symbol "^" (shift-6) worked for me. I tried this in an existing notebook and a new one. Is there any chance that you're using a language setting other than English? Or a special font?

Or, have you checked the type of cell?

David,

You are right. I was using "U.S. International - PC" keyboard and when I changed it to "U.S." the ^ sign changed as well, with positive results. See the image below.

Taking the carat from the Character Viewer works too.

Thank you very much for your suggestion,

Johnny
