Wolfram Technologies for finding missing persons?

Posted 9 years ago

I am curious with the right sets of data in place from a number of sources would Mathematica be able to help (along with additional algorithms and such) help police in the aid of finding missing persons from around the world?(using real time data and other data inputed by search and rescue etc)

Dear Eric,

it sure could, if the right data was available. Many mathematical algorithms are used by the police forces worldwide. There are many new techniques that might be quite useful and Mathematica is very well suited to implement them. As Mathematica is high level and very versatile, it would also be great to prototype new algorithms. It can run on clusters to analyse large amounts of information.

The problem is that you need data which is difficult to access in the public domain.

Best wishes,

Marco
