The Reddit math forum turned up this nice site of sudokuish Garam puzzles yesterday. Fill in the blanks.
Someone was quick to post their Mathematica reduction:
They had to enter the whole puzzle manually, a tedious task.
The regular format and clean composition make these puzzles a tempting target for automation.
Using colour frequency, I pick out the tiles of the puzzle with morphological tools.
By checking tile adjacency, I compile lists of 'equations' reading down or across. Then the dark pixels in these tiles are extracted to collect the equation data.
A classifier turns the images into equations.
Reduce solves all the equations for us, and churns out the answers left to right!
Notebook attached for all your Garam cheating needs.
