SemanticImport fails to import .csv file on Raspberry Pi

Posted 8 years ago

Hi,

I have tried unsuccessfully to import a three-column data table in a csv file using SemanticImport thus:

a = SemanticImport[ "/home/pi/Documents/UNdataExport20160112_081438260.csv"]

and I repeatedly get the following error message:

SemanticImport::sierr: An unrecoverable error was encountered when importing.

Is this a common error, and does anyone have a workable solution please?

I have tried a variety of alternatives based on the documentation to no avail.

I do have Jessie and I am trying that update now; many thanks for your help, Ilian.

That would depend on the version of Raspbian too, wolfram-engine 10.3.1 requires Jessie. If you are already on Jessie,

sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get upgrade wolfram-engine

should suffice.

I think not. My Wolfram Mathematica version is: 10.0.0.0 I installed around October last year.

It sounds like I should reinstall the latest Raspbian? Is there a way to reinstall Mathematica to the latest version without reinstalling Raspbian? I have some interesting downloads and configurations which are way too complicated for me to backup?

Many thanks,

This should have been fixed in the latest Raspberry Pi release. Are you using version 10.3.1?
