Produce an integration result in terms of trig or hyperbolic functions?

Posted 8 years ago

Mathematica and many integral tables often produce log functions as an integration solution when the integrand involves a power of the independent variable in the denominator or a radical containing a power of the independent variable in the denominator. There is, however, often a much simpler trigonometric or hyperbolic solution, if you know the correct substitution to make when solving the integral manually.

Does anyone know how to force Mathematica to produce a result in terms of trig or hyperbolic functions rather than log functions? Or how to convert the Mathematica solution to trig or hyperbolic functions?

Thanks.

You can try ExpToTrig.
