Experience with electromagnetic theory; algorithm development, material properties prediction and measurement, or modeling materials interactions within electromagnetic system is highly desired. Practical experience with LabView, Python, Image J, Mathematica, Matlab, Gaussian, R, and other computational tools is highly desired.
Experience related to the study of the interaction between electromagnetic energy, especially x-ray and millimeter waves, and materials is preferred. Demonstrated independent research experience and capability to plan and lead the execution of research and development projects is required. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.
The successful candidate will based on-site at a Government facility and will be responsible for executing and documenting various aspects of testing and analysis associated with the development of security-related systems. The candidate must be able to contribute to the development of methods to design and improve detection systems, including methods to develop and test standards for these systems. The candidate must be able to write, review, and comment on project plans, test plans and procedures, data analysis reports, and project final reports. The successful candidate must be able to operate within a dynamic team environment and be able to multi-task to meet evolving objectives.
This position may require irregular hours, to include work on weekends or after regular business hours.
This position may require domestic travel.
PhD in Materials Science, or a related physical science field is preferred. M.S. Materials Science, or a related physical science field with five years of professional experience is acceptable.
This position requires that the candidate be willing and able to complete a successful background screening for a security clearance. Candidates with an active security clearance will receive preference.
