Wolfram, creator of Mathematica, Wolfram|Alpha and the Wolfram Language, has an exciting opportunity available for an intern to join our Numerical Computation team this spring. This is a paid, part-time internship working 10–25 hours per week, with the possibility to extend into the summer with full-time hours.
Our team works on making a wide variety of numerical computations, such as matrix computations, optimization and differential equations, accessible and efficient within the Wolfram Language. The goal of the intern project is to work to make a number of special, efficient algorithms in numerical linear algebra more widely accessible in the system as a whole.
The ideal candidate will have an understanding of numerical linear algebra and error analysis and be proficient at programming in the Wolfram Language. Having used the finite element method is a plus, but not a must. Much of the Numerical Computation team works from remote locations, so we are looking for an intern who is responsible, reliable and self-sufficient.
Location: Champaign, IL, or remote
