ABOUT ME:

I am at various times an engineer, an optical designer, a mathematician, and a physicist.

My work includes:

  • Modeling complex physical systems and processes, including structural analysis, thermal analysis and heat transfer, ac/dc electrical
analysis including current spreading and joule heating, and electro
    and magneto statics.

  • Optical systems design, including lens design, illumination system
design, physical optics, and power coupling.

  • Mathematical modeling and analysis, including development of general differential/algebraic linear and nonlinear models, data analysis,
    and graphics.

I have been using Mathematica since Version 2.1. While I have specialized tools for optical design and finite element analysis, Mathematica is my Swiss Army Knife. I use it for theory, modeling, data reduction and analysis, graphics, . . . . The only thing I can't do with it is remove wallpaper. That still requires a steamer.
