Define a linear transformation via a matrix

Posted 4 years ago

I'd just like to be able to define a rotation transformation in two dimensions, with the angle of rotation as the argument.enter image description here

Why can't I just do the straightforward function definition shown below? Somehow, the theta variable is being assigned a value too early.

The file I'm trying to put the definition is attached. Could the Dynamic applied to another theta variable earlier be interfering?

Thanks for any help.

Chris,

Quit your kernel. You evidently have R defined already. Alternatively you can just clear R with

Clear[R]

Right, thanks. The error message might be a tad more illuminating, I think. ;-) Just adding something like "Check to see whether R is already defined."

One more quick question, how do I add a notebook. I go through all the steps, but it doesn't appear in this message.

It says I have to be logged into the "Wolfram Cloud with your community account". I'm still trying to figure out how to do that. I have a Mathematica Home license.

I hope the notebook got added this time.
