Can a Computer Detect Whether you are Cheating?

Computer-Based Maths has got something practical for you to try!

This is just one example taken from a CBM module called Can I spot a cheat?, where students learn about random errors and distributions of data. In this activity, they are asked to enter the results of a coin flipping experiment, using either real or made-up results. The computer then detects who it thinks has cheated and who may have provided real results.

Give it a try for yourself here, and let us know what you think!

Happy flipping…or otherwise
