Conoscopic Interference Patterns

I’m trying to use Mathematica to create Interference Patterns. I’m trying to recreate the images of FIG 4 and FIG 5 in this paper:

Does anyone know how to use Mathematica to make interference patterns or recreate the figures in the paper?

There are a lot of examples among Demonstrations. The Mathematica source code is freely available for download there. Some quite sophisticated:
