Desktop freeze when 3D image rotate

Example coming from: Wolfram Physics Project

Evaluation gives 3D graph of twisted torus. The desktop freezes when you try to rotate the output 3D image! Some hints to solve this problem?

I have at least in part replicated this running Mathematica 12.1 on Ubuntu Linux. I will file a bug report.
