Is it possible to preserve formatting when converting notebook?

Hi All,

I am wondering if it is possible to convert a notebook from StandardForm to InputForm without losing the format from the StandardForm? I.E. line-endings, Spaces or Returns?
I use StandardForm to test algorithms that I then convert to InputForm so that I can run them on a Supercomputer. However in the conversion I lose all of beautiful and neat formatting, and have to go through and reformat by hand.

Yes, it is possible to retain the same format as it was in the StandardForm.
