Is Matlink working with the Development Platform (Wolfram Desktop)?

Dear Members of the community,
In the past, I used Matlink to connect Mathematica with Matlab. I have tryied the same from the Wolfram Desktop without succes, is there a documented limitation to connect matlab and the Wolfram Desktop?
