Reading and solving Garam puzzles

The Reddit math forum turned up this nice site of sudokuish Garam puzzles yesterday. Fill in the blanks.

Someone was quick to post their Mathematica reduction:

They had to enter the whole puzzle manually, a tedious task.

The regular format and clean composition make these puzzles a tempting target for automation.

Using colour frequency, I pick out the tiles of the puzzle with morphological tools.

By checking tile adjacency, I compile lists of ‘equations’ reading down or across. Then the dark pixels in these tiles are extracted to collect the equation data.

A classifier turns the images into equations.

Reduce solves all the equations for us, and churns out the answers left to right!
