This is on Windows 10. Upon startup, Spikey apears, and the last thing he says is: “Initializing Default Notebooks.” When I add “-cleanstart” to cmd line (properties of Mma shortcut), he says "Starting with clean preferences . . . " but still there’s no front end. The kernel remains available. Much obliged.
Bruce at Wolfram Tech support to the rescue. His suggestion works for 12.0 as well:
- Go to Wolfram Support Quick Answers: How do I fix common problems by resetting Mathematica 14.0 to its default configuration?
- Find your platform. If Windows, be sure to click the red " … enable your account to see
hidden files and folders." Follow the ensuing instructions. - Back to Wolfram Support Quick Answers: How do I fix common problems by resetting Mathematica 14.0 to its default configuration? Per the instructions, delete or rename the listed
directories after closing Mathematica.
Bruce - I really appreciate your help.
