Watchingevolutionhappen.gif

Posterior mean frequency of the lactase-persistence allele (rs4988235-A) across Europe over the last 8,000 years (about 6050 BC to AD 1950), on the TemperatureMap scale. White-ringed dots are the ancient individuals dated within ±400 years of the moving window; the inset tracks the 95% credible-interval width — where the map is honest about not knowing.
