Kelly,

I was fortunate to see your initial presentation at the SS last week. It is inspiring to see what you have accomplished in such a short time.

Not sure where you are applying to college, but I have shared your post with members of our NASA FIRESENSE Team at UMD as I think your research is relevant. Great Job!!!

Hello Robyn,
Thank you so much for your kind message and for sharing my post—it means a lot! I would love the chance to chat more about the GEOG department and how my work might connect. Looking forward to talking with you soon!

Awesome project, Kelly! Reminds me of a community post i wrote last year on forest fire CAs in 1, 2, and 3D: A Forest Fire Model in 1, 2, and 3 Dimensions

Very nice!

The Cellular Automata (CA) approach is the last method I would try when modeling forest fires or wild fires. So, it is quite interesting to see CA applications to both.

What is very interesting is attempting calibration to real life data. Or good enough fake data. For example, one of these CA models can be used to produce (fake) calibration data for the other. Also, that kind of exercise can be useful to compare the two CA models.
