ABOUT ME:

Rudolf Oldenbourg is a Senior Scientist at the Marine Biological Laboratory in Woods Hole, Massachusetts, where he develops light microscopy techniques for studying living cells, tissues, and whole organisms. He was trained in physics at the Technical University in Munich and received his PhD in 1981 from the University of Konstanz, Germany. After postdoctoral work and a first faculty position in the Physics Department at Brandeis University, he transferred in 1989 to the Marine Biological Laboratory to work with Shinya Inoué, starting a fruitful collaboration leading to important technical advances in orientation imaging and polarized light microscopy.
