ABOUT ME:

Jibiana Jakpor loves research and problem solving. She feels blessed to have received two national gold medal at the NAACP ACT-SO competition. In 2020, she received the gold medal in the Medicine and Health category for her bioinformatics research on substance use disorders. In 2019, she won the gold medal in the Earth and Space Sciences category for her research on wildfire smoke. She has received a patent for a negative pressure device that could be carried by drones to filter particulate from the smoke of fires. She is also very interested in artificial intelligence and its uses. Outside of STEM, Jibiana is an American Lung Association volunteer and goes on legislative visits to advocate for clean air laws. She also has enjoyed playing trombone in her school's concert band and jazz band, writing poetry, participating in speech and debate, and reading good books.
