Alex is interested in mathematics and computer science, focusing on problem-solving and algorithmic thinking. He has competed in MathCounts, the AMC 8, and other regional and national math contests, and is currently competing in USACO, where he has advanced to the Silver division. He has also participated in research programs including the Wolfram Summer Research Program, the Wolfram Emerging Leaders Program, and MathPath.

At school, he is involved in Math Club, Science & Engineering Club, VEX Robotics, Model UN, chamber ensemble, cross country, and varsity wrestling. Outside of school, he plays the violin in ensembles and orchestras in Boston, volunteers through music performance and tutoring, and enjoys exploring challenging problems at the intersection of mathematics and computation.
