ABOUT ME:

Leslie Ann Goldberg is a Professor of Computer Science at the University of Oxford. She has served as the Head of Computer Science at Oxford since 2021 (with a sabbatical in 2025-26). She has previously held research positions at the University of Liverpool, the University of Warwick, and Sandia National Laboratories in the USA.

Leslie's research concentrates on foundational questions in Algorithms and Complexity Theory, focussing especially on the mathematical analysis of randomised algorithms (convergence rates of Markov chains, analysis of stochastic processes, algorithms for sampling from spin systems) and algorithms for approximate counting.

Leslie is an elected member of Academia Europaea, a Fellow of the European Association of Theoretical Computer Science, and a Fellow of the Academy for the Mathematical Sciences. She has received a Suffrage Science Award for Maths and Computing and an ERC Advanced Grant.
