Robert J. Frey is currently a Research Professor at Stony Brook University where he serves as Director of the Program in Quantitative Finance in the Department of Applied Mathematics and Statistics. He holds joint appointment in the university's Business School and is the President of the university's Research Center for High Frequency Finance. Formerly he was an Adjunct Professor and Chair of the Advisory Board for the Program on Financial Mathematics at the University of Chicago.
Prior to joining Stony Brook in 2004, he held the position of Managing Director with Renaissance Technologies Corp., a well know, quantitatively based investment management firm. Before that he was a Managing Director of Kepler Financial Management, a Trader with Morgan Stanley's Analytical Proprietary Group, a Research Program Director with Harris Corp., and an Management Analyst with the Internal Revenue Service.
Among several other business interests, he serves as CEO of FQS Capital Partners, Ltd., an investment management firm based in New York and London, and CEO of Harbor Financial Management, his family office.
His public service and eleemosynary activities include serving on the Boards of the Guardian Angels, Hope House Ministries, the Museum of Mathematics, the Stony Brook Foundation, and the Suffolk Community College Foundation, He is a former President of both the Mount Sinai Board of Education and the Port Jefferson Board of Education. He is the founder, President and CEO of the Frey Family Foundation.
Robert was graduated with a PhD in Applied Mathematics and Statistics (Operations Research) from Stony Brook University in 1987. He lives in Port Jefferson with his wife and children.
