ABOUT ME:

Imre Pázsit is professor at the Division of Subatomic, High Energy and Plasma Physics at the Department of Physics, at Chalmers University of Technology, Göteborg, Sweden. He had formerly a state-endowed chair at the Department of Reactor Physics, late Department Nuclear Engineering, before Chalmers got re-organised a number of times. He is an internationally leading expert in the theory of neutron fluctuations in multiplying systems and in general in random processes in particle transport and detection. He is the lead author of the decisive monograph in the field on neutron fluctuations, written together with L. Pál, the founder of the mathematical theory of neutron noise in nuclear systems. I. Pázsit is an author of about 200 papers in international journals, as well as numerous reports and conference proceedings and book chapters. He is a Fellow of the American Nuclear Society, and a Member of the Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences. He is also a member of the Royal Society of Arts and Sciences in Gothenburg. He is an adjunct professor at the Department of Nuclear Engineering and Radiological Sciences of the University of Michigan. He received the Eugene P. Wigner Award of the Reactor Physics Division and the Don Miller Award from the HF&IC Division of ANS. He is the recipient of the Leó Szilárd award of the Hungarian Nuclear Society, and the Order of the Rising Sun, Golden Rays with Neck Ribbon from the Japanese Government. He is also Doctor Honoris Causa at the Budapest University of Technology and Economics. Between late 2013 and mid-2019, he was Executive Edtior of the journal Annals of Nuclear Energy; recently, its Executive Editor Emeritus.
