[Job] Linux Administrator [Wolfram]

Wolfram, creator of Mathematica, Wolfram|Alpha and the Wolfram Language, has an exciting opportunity available for a Systems Administrator. The ideal candidate will be good at working independently but also enjoy working closely with some of the brightest minds in the industry. Wolfram is constantly researching the latest technology trends, and this position will be at the forefront of delivering new technologies at internet scale in a flexible, innovative environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintaining enterprise production systems
  • Implementing changes for existing web infrastructure
  • Designing new tools/utilities to automate processes
  • Administrating Linux-based web servers
  • Building and configuring web servers and databases
  • Investigating and troubleshooting performance issues with various applications

Requirements:

  • Strong Linux experience
  • Knowledge of networking concepts, technologies and virtual machine environment
  • Understanding of web architecture and the appropriate technology stacks, such as Apache and Tomcat
  • Ideal candidate will love challenges and enjoy using their own skills and creativity to solve problems
  • Candidate will enjoy working in a highly skilled team environment
  • Ideal candidate takes pride in their work and is a self-starter with a desire to learn

Preferred requirements:

  • 3–5 years of experience
  • Have already designed/implemented a complex web architecture
  • Bash/Python scripting experience
  • Knowledge of Java or C programming
  • Understanding of the Wolfram Language
  • Understanding of cloud services such as AWS
  • Knowledge of MySQL and ability to optimize a database
