Understanding TraceInternal->True for an integral

Posted 5 years ago

Hi all, I'm looking into polylogarithmic integrals. an integral I encountered in my problem is for example, click to see in Wolfram|Alpha:

int log(x-B)*log(x-C)/(x-A) dx

My intention is to solve integrals of the kind symbolically. Sadly TraceInternal isn't exactly verbose in what it's doing to solve this, and solving the integral "manually" is a daunting task. I have attempted solving it using RUBY, but this extension treats it as a "common integral", and a reference for that integral is missing.

I have contacted people at Wolfram Technical Services to inquire about how Mathematica solves the above. They recommended I should ask here first. Be sure to let me know if you have any idea!!

Many thanks, Tobias

Please take a look on tips for better posting: http://wolfr.am/READ-1ST

  • You don't have to put LaTeX code in Wolfram|Alpha, simple math works just fine

  • Use community editor to make proper URLs

  • It make sense for you post your Wolfram Language and RUBY code for other members to see what you tried and understand your problem better. The more details you give the better response you get.
