Mathematica does not display/evaluate output?

Posted 4 years ago

Dear all, I recently re-installed Mathematica 10.3.1.0 on Mac OSx x86. If I type any command and press SHIFT+ENTER, no output is produced, please see the screenshot below. Do you know why this is happening?

Thank you!

No output is produced after SHIFT+ENTER

Try going to Evaluation -> Default Kernel, and select Local.

I had this same problem and was able to correct it in this way.

What happens with the menu command Evaluation > Evaluate Notebook? This should evaluate everything in the notebook file.

Perhaps this is trivial, but I want to be sure: It is essential that your cursor be within the cell when you hit SHIFT+ENTER. In your screenshot, you have the line below the cell, and if you hit SHIFT+ENTER in this scenario, nothing will happen.

If you arrow key up into the cell, does SHIFT+ENTER still fail?

Cursor is inside the cell but still, it is not showing any output. The cursor is blinking horizontally on the line. I am using the web version. I have stable internet connection, everything is loading except this. enter image description here

If the cursor is blinking horizontally it is not in the cell above. It is waiting for new input into the next cell. Click somewhere around 2+3 and hit SHIFT+ENTER

No, the cursor is horizontal after I have clicked Shift+Enter.

Before that, It was inside the cell above just next to 2+3
