Mathematica preferences - saving windows layout

Posted 11 years ago
When I bring up Mathematica, I'd like the windows (including help) to open just as they were when I closed Mathematica last.  That way I don't have to resize/move windows every time I bring up the tool.

I can't figure out how to set the preferences to do this... is it possible?

thanks,
-Joe

Wait...  I created something like this a while ago...
It is located here as a palette that allows you to save several window states for reopening at a future time...

The only caveat is that the palette must exist in a location on your drive that has been designated as a trusted directory.  If you install the palette then it will be trusted automatically.

This functionality is part of the suite of tools I wrote some while ago (which I still use every day), "A WorkLife Framework" (http://scientificarts.com/worklife/).
But I will see in the next couple of days if I can find time to create a funciton that does specifically what you are asking for and which you can add to a palette.

By the way, these days you can have WorkLife under a shareware approach -- I give a license and you can contribute what you wish via PayPal if you find it useful and choose to continue to use it.

Thanks Isaac!

That gets me most of the way there.
