Styling mathematica controls to appear the same as documentation controls?

The online version of the controls have a polished look to them.



In mathematica 9, they are plain:



How can I style the mathematica controls on the desktop to look the same as the online controls?

I found the answer I think.

The appearance is determined by the operating system. Since I had my computer configured for best performance, all styling was turned off by the OS.

If anyone finds a way to force the style on controls regardless of the operating system, please reply.
