Why the result of a definite integral is a function?

Posted 3 years ago

You can easily prove the integral has its value by self but the calculator ended with a function . The integrated function is xy and where dx is from 1/x to 2 , dy is from 1/2 to 2.

It seems that for Wolfram|Alpha "variable 1" is the one of the outer integral, while "variable 2" is the variable of the inner integral. You probably had the reverse in mind.
