I'm looking to build a computer. I'm currently running a 5-year-old Core 2 Duo laptop with a desktop setup. The Core 2 Duo is definitely slower than the i3, which is noticeably slower than the i5.
So how much faster is the Haswell i7 than the i5? Is it worth the jump in price? I figure that since I'd be spending a lot on the other parts, I might as well spend an extra $100 for the i7.
How much RAM is suggested? Of course, more is better, but I'm on a student budget...
