Is the symbol underscore forbidden in the name of a matrix?

Hi, I named a matrix A_n and got a series of values for it.

Then I named the same matrix by An and I got a series of different results for it.

What is happening?

Underscore is Blank so A_n is interpreted as a Pattern

A_n // FullForm
(* Pattern[A, Blank[n]] *)
