Express arbitrary number in complex filed as a cyclotomic polynomial.

Posted 2 years ago

GAP system uses Cyclotomic Numbers for Trace (character table) related computation. So, I want to know if I can convert the express of arbitrary number in complex filed, e.g., 3^(1/7), into a cyclotomic polynomial with the help of Wolfram language, so that I can use it conveniently in GAP.

Regards, HZ

How to do it? Can you give me an example?

Check documentation for MinimalPolynomial.

You can find the minimal polynomial, but it will not always be cyclotomic.
