Why does the notebook evaluated in attached screen shot work in old Mathematica but not in newer (7) version?
There were a lot of chenges to graphics in version 6. One of the changes was precisely that the semicolon now suppressed the display of graphics. So yes, just remove the semicolon at the end of Plot.
