Hey, Thanks for your tests. At least I know that the notebook-code has no errors and I need to look for possibilities and workarounds.
On my system
"13.3.0 for Linux x86 (64-bit) (June 3, 2023)"
the PDF comes with the correct umlauts.
On my Mac the Umlaut's in the pdf are correct.
