How to get rid of strange symbol next to notebook cell?

Posted 11 years ago

I just upgraded from Mathematica 9 to version 10, and some cells in a note book have a strange symbol in the left-hand margin: enter image description here

Any thoughts on what this means, how it got there, and how to get rid of it?

Thanks - The Format/CellDingbat/None removed the symbol.

It looks like the "Wolf" symbol generated with esc-wolf-esc. I don't know how you got that. You could select all cells with ctrl-A, then go to Format(menu item) -> Cell Dingbat -> None.
