Hackathon - CodeGirls

Posted 10 hours ago

In many hospitals, breast cancer detection can take longer than ideal. This happens because doctors have many tests to review and there isn't always enough specialized staff. Therefore, some tests are delayed, and patients don't receive the results as quickly as they should.

We decided to participate in this competition to make a difference. We liked the competition's focus, how one of the objectives was to develop a system that could be used in hospitals and help many women. Breast cancer is a very common issue in our area; this competition inspires us to help people, like doctors, to do efficient work that can save lives.

We were also drawn to the opportunity to use a new programming language. Until now, we only knew about things like Python; Wolfram opened up a new path full of learning and opportunities.

Currently, technology has become a very important tool to help in the early detection of diseases, such as breast cancer. During Hackathon 2025, we developed a program that uses Wolfram Language to analyze mammogram images with artificial intelligence. The idea is that the system can quickly and accurately identify potential signs of cancer.

With this, both doctors and patients can receive early alerts and make timely decisions, increasing the chances of more effective treatment. Furthermore, our platform can be used online, making it useful for clinics in more remote areas that don't always have specialists. In this way, our project aims to support public health and help more people access early detection.
