Problem opening Mathematica version 10

Posted 10 years ago

I just downloaded and installed version 10 on my Windows 7 64 bit computer. It meets all of the system requirements. I attempt to open Mathematica but it just doesn't. I can open the kernal but just not the actual program. I went to the task manager to look at the processes and they're just stuck at about 5,500k memory. I tried restarting my computer, uninstalling and then reinstalling, and opening as administrator. Nothing so far has worked. I'd really appreciate it if I could get some help with this. Thanks.

I tried all of those and nothing worked. I ended up contacting technical support and they told me to try to boot it up in safe mode. It worked and when I went back to normal mode it also finally started working.

In addition to the directories listed in (http://support.wolfram.com/kb/12473), delete

 C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Local\Mathematica

This should be cleared with the configuration files step, but might as well be thorough.

Can you describe in more detail what happens when you try to run Mathematica?

I would first try to remove the configuration files (http://support.wolfram.com/kb/12464). If you have not tried already, completely uninstall Mathematica (http://support.wolfram.com/kb/12473), download a new installer and try installing it.

If you continue to see problems, you should contact wolfram technical support (http://www.wolfram.com/support/contact/), letting them know what you've tried already.
