How do I pin a file to the recently used file list?

Posted 10 years ago

Up through 9.0 I had a file that I used frequently. I did something to its item in the init.m file for the FrontEnd and it always was there at the end of the recently used list that comes up when you click on OpenFile in the File menu. Is this still possible in 10.1?

Thank you David! It would be nice if somehow an associative structure could be accumulated from all this wisdom about the esoterica of the front end.

One way to do this, I believe, is through the Option Inspector.

Open the Option Inspector and set its scope to Global. Then under "Global Options>Menu settings" click on the editing icon to the right of the NotebooksMenu item. This brings up a dialog. If the file you are interested in pinning to the menu is there then click on it and select "Edit..." and uncheck the "Recycle menu slot automatically" for that item. If the item is not already in the list, then first use the "Add..." button to place it in the list and then follow these instructions.
