Finding Helicopter Airspeed

Posted 10 years ago

I am trying to find a formula that I can use to find the Knots Indicated Airspeed for the UH-1N. I have a chart that uses temp (°C), pressure altitude, single engine power available (%Q), and aircraft gross weight. With those numbers I can run the chart to find a safe minimum airspeed and maximum airspeed. I would like to input the formula into Excel to create an automated system to find this data. I have not been able to find anything through searching on Google. Wolfram Alpha does not understand the question I am asking. If there is anyone here that could help me out it would be really appreciated. Thank you.

I'm not sure I understand your question. Are you looking to create a program with Mathematica that will read in an excel sheet and do some calculations with it?

You can do this fairly easily. Use the Import function to import the spreadsheet and then you can write a program to manipulate that data.

Wolfram|Alpha won't have the equations for calculating the values you want. You have to program what you want.
