Functions "Here" and $GeoLocation return "Missing[NotAvailable]

Mathematica 10.3.1 Mac OS 10.10.5 Location services - On

Unclear what's going on. Updated Java to latest version: Java 8 Update 71

Caveat: Mathematica newbie studying the "Elementary Introduction to the Wolfram Language" online book.

hi sean,

thanks for the response.

i finally resolved the issue. executing $GeoLocation=FindGeoLocation[], solved the problem.

when i execute your code snippet i get coordinates returned - same as when i executed the code listed above.

That's strange. Most likely, $GeoLocation was redefined somehow.

Hm. What do you get when you evaluate the following:

Import@"http://dataserver.wolfram.com/GeoIPLookup/GeoIPLookupServlet"

Do you see this problem with other things?

When that happens to me I'm never sure whether it is the information, or myself, that is missing/unavailable.
