Newbie Question on Free Form Input

Posted 9 years ago

Just started with Mathematica and using the Hands on Book as an aid. I'm using OnLine version. When I use free form input, I don't see the "grayed out" plus sign that is referenced in the book - and seems to be needed to select additional options. Any suggestions?

Hi Derek, Thanks so much for the reply. When I do this, I get the right result, but don't see the same visual as shown in the book. Are you using the online version or the "desktop version". I'm wondering if that's the difference (or perhaps if I need to tweak my browser).

Hey Scott. I am new, too and working with the same book. try the example on p. 24. Be sure to hit the equal sign first. It should turn orange. Then type plot sin(x). Be sure to hit shift + enter to get result with this system. They don't say that earlier. You should get the box with the grey plus sign to expand the results.
