I get the same result as Sander for the last example - Mathematica 10.4 on Windows 10.
@Bianca Eifert @Sander Huisman Ah, interesting! I was using 10.3.0 on Yosemite, but I get the same (correct) result as both of you on 10.3.1 on El Capitan. There's no change in the first example, though.
I can confirm this, same for me. Not sure if this is implemented to be honest, I never used JoinForm/CapForm with 3D lines... I did use with Tubes though...
